Spices, red fruits, tannic structure...
Saint Emilion is located on the right bank and the most cultivated varieties are Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
In its soils with clay-limestone influence, wines are born that enchant with their aromas of ripe black fruits and spices such as pepper and cinnamon.
In the mouth it is soft with present and round tannins.
Ideal for elegant moments
TERROIR
The soil of Saint-Emilion is divided into two distinct areas:
"Les Côtes" with a clay-limestone soil giving round and fruity Merlots, and the so-called "Sable" zone, with a soil made of silicon gravel and sandy, so that the Cabernets reach optimal maturity.
HARVEST 2017
The winter and spring of 2017 were generally mild and relatively dry.
After the rains in June, the hot and dry months of July and August followed, allowing the vineyards to produce quality grapes, rich in aromas.
The slightly cooler temperatures in September helped to preserve a good freshness in the red wines.
In addition, Baron Philippe de Rothschild's winemakers, through their presence and knowledge, ensured a quality harvest.
Red wines are characterized by beautiful fresh fruit and a firm, elegant tannic structure.
VINIFICATION
The selected plots are monitored throughout the growing season by Baron Philippe de Rothschild's winemakers, who advise producers on the management of their vineyards in accordance with the Réserve Mouton Cadet's quality requirements.
