Saint-Chinian is a appellation of the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region, in the south of France. It is located between Minervois and Faugeres, which produce similar styles of robust red wine from similar grapes and in a similar landscape. It is also bordered by the Muscat appellation of Saint-Jean-de-Minervois, which produces sweet white wines. As a result, the diversity of the Languedoc region is well demonstrated in this small area.
The title Saint-Chinian AOC was created in 1982, exclusively for red and rosé wines. In 2005, white wines were introduced to the appellation, made by Grenache Blanc, Marsanne and Roussanne.
