Full-bodied, velvety and dense, 2016 Châteauneuf du Pape Excellence Pie VI is a blend of Syrah and Grenache. Plum and chocolatey, it almost looks like syrup and probably ripens pretty fast.
Color : deep ruby.
Nose : ripe fruit, spices and bitter cocoa. Notes of blackberry jam and aromatic herbs emerge as soon as the wine can breathe.
Mouth : soft with velvety tannins in the mouth, in the mouth it shows a beautiful balance between concentration and complexity. The notes of liqueurs and rich juice give way to notes of soft spices and dark chocolate at the end.
