A white wine from a historic variety of the Douro, deeply rooted in the traditions of the Upper Douro, where it thrives in old vineyards and produces wines of great personality. This wine originates from a 48-year-old vineyard in Numão, situated at an altitude of 450 meters, with a mixture of several grape varieties, while all the Rabigato strains were harvested separately.
Vinification and Aging
The grapes are de-stemmed and fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 20ºC, using a foot of the vat prepared five days prior. After natural clarification, the wine undergoes aging in stainless steel vats, with a reduced dose of sulfur dioxide and light filtration prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes
This wine offers a palatable experience that surpasses its aroma, exhibiting the characteristic scent of the grape variety that evolves positively over time. Its true character is best expressed on the palate, showcasing vibrant acidity, a creamy texture, and a persistent finish.
Serving Suggestions
Serve between 8 and 10ºC. This wine is excellent as an aperitif but shines even more when paired with meals, particularly with fish dishes cooked in the oven or pot, such as caldeirada, cataplana, or the unbeatable arrozes. It pairs perfectly with soft or semi-soft cheeses.
