THE WINE
It is a blend from the selection of several lots originating from one of the oldest farms in the Douro - the "Quinta do Bom Retiro".
It results from the oenological creation of several batches. Young wines marry easily, however, as they age, the marriage becomes more difficult. Greater knowledge is necessary, a refinement of part by part so that, over time, a perfect and lasting harmony is achieved.
VINIFICATION
It was made from wines from Quinta de Bom Retiro, a blend with an average age of 20 years, an adult and sophisticated tawny.
TASTING NOTES
Tawny color, with a yellow halo that corresponds to an advanced state of maturation. It is the genuine color of a 20-year-old wine aged in casks. At the base of the glass it is warm red, with a slight orange tone.
Lively aroma and velvety texture. Fruit aromas - grapefruit, apricot, almond, hazelnut, cocoa; aromas of wood - vanilla, old Porto cask and phenolic; roasting aromas - cinnamon, caramel, coffee; Ethereal aromas - stearin and iodine.
In the mouth, it is smooth and dry, complemented by a rich and generous persistence.
On the palate, the attack is fine and delicious. The elegance of the first contact is maintained by a complex sequence of ripe and dried fruits, in a fresh and liqueur harmony.
GASTRONOMY
Delicious as an aperitif, or after dinner, with chocolates, not too sweet desserts or desserts based on creams and cheeses. It goes very well with dried fruits, nut cakes, and pies.
