Amancaya, like its older brother, presents a subtle harmony of Argentine identity and Bordeaux style.
However, the wine is more fruity due to its higher percentage of Malbec and its shorter aging.
To celebrate its Andean roots, it takes its indigenous name for a beautiful little flower that grows in the heights of the Andes.

The idea of a partnership between the Rothschild and Catena families was born in 1999. The Catena family has been producing wines for four generations.
Their extensive knowledge of Mendoza's high altitude terroirs places them among the most renowned Malbec producers in Argentina.
By bringing together the incomparable experience of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite in the production of a great Cabernet Sauvignon, their aim is to develop a wine that combines French and Argentinian cultures and the two grape varieties characteristic of each family.

Planted on plateaus between 800 and 1200 m, Mendoza's vineyards are among the highest in the world.

Amancaya is the Quechua name for a flower endemic to the Andes that grows in the Mendoza region.
The grapes come from selected lots of old vines located in Lujan de Cuyo, on the outskirts of Mendoza, and also in Altamira, further south.
Lujan brings together a great diversity of soils, depending on the proximity of the vineyards to the mountains or the Mendoza river; these soils are an original formation
alluvial layer consisting of layers of clay, rock and gravel.
In Altamira, the vineyard is planted at an altitude of 1000m, in the old alluvial bed of the Tunuyán River.
